Pelvic Health FAQs

Will I have to have an internal exam?

Nope! Not unless you’re comfortable with it. Internal pelvic floor exams are never mandatory and are always done with your full consent, on your timeline, and with compassion. Our providers are trained in trauma-informed care and will walk you through every step before anything happens. That said, an internal exam can provide valuable insight into how your pelvic floor muscles are functioning, allowing us to tailor your treatment more specifically. But your care plan will always be based on you—your goals, your comfort level, and what feels right for your body.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone's journey is different, but most patients begin to notice changes within just a few sessions—sometimes even after the first one. The length of your care plan depends on your symptoms, your goals, and how your body responds. We’ll always keep you in the loop, adjust as needed, and work collaboratively to help you feel better as efficiently and sustainably as possible.

Can’t I just do Kegels?

It’s a common thought, but no—Kegels aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. In fact, they can sometimes make symptoms worse if done incorrectly or if your muscles are already overactive. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about pelvic floor strength, but our team is here to assess what your body needs and guide you toward the most effective, safe, and personalized strategies.

I’ve tried PT before and it didn’t help—how is this different?

Pelvic floor therapy is a highly specialized branch of care—and not all physical therapy is the same. Our providers have advanced training in pelvic health and take a whole-body, whole-person approach. That means we look beyond symptoms to get to the root of what’s going on and work with your nervous system, lifestyle, and unique anatomy to create lasting change.

Can I come to pelvic floor therapy even if I’m not sure what’s “wrong”?

Absolutely! You don’t need to have a diagnosis or specific issue to benefit from pelvic floor therapy. Many people come in with vague discomfort, a sense that “something’s off,” or curiosity about how their body works. We’ll help you make sense of your symptoms, uncover patterns, and create a path forward—no judgment, just support.
