Pregnancy & Postpartum
It's no secret that pregnancy and the postpartum period bring significant physical and emotional changes!
As the body adapts, so does the way it moves—and those shifts in movement patterns can sometimes lead to muscle imbalances, discomfort, and weakness.

Changes in pelvic support, combined with the growing uterus, may also contribute to bowel and bladder dysfunction during pregnancy and after birth.
These experiences may be common, but they don’t have to be your new normal—and you don’t have to navigate them alone.

Pregnancy & Postpartum FAQs
Can I bring a partner to sessions?
Absolutely! We love when partners are involved. Pelvic floor therapy can be an incredibly empowering experience for both you and your birthing partner. Whether you're learning perineal massage techniques, exploring different labor and pushing positions, or simply building confidence together, we're here to support the team dynamic that feels right for you. These sessions can help your partner feel more informed, connected, and equipped to support you during birth and recovery.
Does pelvic floor therapy prevent tearing during birth?
Pelvic floor therapy may help reduce the risk of tearing by improving tissue flexibility, pelvic floor awareness, and pushing strategies—but of course, we can’t guarantee prevention. What we can do is prepare your body and your mind for labor by working on perineal massage, breathing coordination, positional changes, and more, all of which can support a more easeful birth experience.
How early can I start postpartum therapy?
That’s totally up to you. We don’t require clearance from your doctor—we trust you to know your body best. Whether you're ready to come in just a couple of weeks postpartum or a few months down the road, we’ll meet you where you are. Our gentle, individualized care can begin whenever you feel ready.
When should I start preparing for birth?
It depends on your needs and goals. Some clients come early in their pregnancy to address pain, pelvic dysfunction, or to begin birth education. Others come later for a focused series of visits to prepare for labor. We recommend beginning early so we can support you throughout your pregnancy, with periodic check-ins to adjust movement, exercise, and birth prep strategies as your body changes.
Will pelvic floor therapy help with infertility?
Pelvic floor therapy can support fertility by improving blood flow to the pelvic organs, reducing pelvic congestion or tension, and calming the nervous system. It may also help address underlying pelvic pain, scar tissue, or postural issues that can affect reproductive health. Every person is different—and we’d be honored to be part of your care team.
Can I bring my other kids with me to appointments?
Absolutely! At CE, we never want a lack of childcare to be a barrier to your care. You're welcome to bring your little ones with you. We’ll work with you to make your session as smooth and stress-free as possible, even if that means taking a pause for snacks or stroller snuggles.
I’m a couple years postpartum—is it too late?
Not at all. Postpartum is forever, and it’s never too late to seek care or start feeling better in your body. Whether it's been a few months or many years since giving birth, if you're experiencing symptoms like leaking, pelvic heaviness, pain, or just feeling disconnected from your core—pelvic floor therapy can still help. Healing doesn't have a deadline, and you deserve support at every stage.
